Now, I’ve always associated dungarees/overalls with something that kids, farmers or factory workers wear & so was hesitant on whether to purchase this item or not.
Also, corduroy has previously been referred to as an ‘unsexy’ material, so that in itself was a reason for my hesitancy when I spotted it & the skirt version to it in Primark.
Ladies, I know you’ll agree with me here when I say that when you’ve bought something, you can’t wait to show it to those who’s opinion matters.
So you can imagine the feeling I got when I excitedly pulled it out of the bag to show my partner & the initial reaction on his face was of pure disgust (probably because it is considered an ‘unsexy’ material).
I will admit, after seeing his reaction, I definitely considered taking it back to the store because I really value his opinion & I want to look GOOOOD for my mayn!
So in that same week, I was scrolling through my social media when I saw a girl that I follow had something similar to mine on but in denim.
I suddenly had an ‘Ah Ha’ moment! I thought to myself: ‘if she can wear something like this & make it look good, then so can I!’
So, I guess I partly have her to thank for inspiring me to try something a lil different.
As mentioned previously, when it comes to my style, I try to keep it as simple as possible.
So to achieve this look, I partnered this Primark dungaree dress with my Khaki Missguided top, which I’ve previously worn. (Click here to see) I also left one side of the buckle undone for more of a relaxed look & to show off the criss-cross neckline detail of this beautiful ribbed top. I’ve only owned this top for less than a year, but I can see me rewearing it A LOT.
Like with my previous holiday posts, I threw on my black Primark sandals, my small over the shoulder bag & to complete the look, I went with some of my favourite gold accessories like my earrings, watch, & my black & gold Primark sunglasses.
If paired with the appropriate top, this dungaree can be a staple piece all year round. I’ll be reworking this dungaree dress for my autumn/winter wardrobe with a lovely thick jumper; either worn over it or under it, depending on my mood that day.
For my footwear, I’ll be wearing it with my cosy winter boots with wool lining & thick tights to keep my pins as warm as possible.
I LOVED this look!
Thinking back to how I wanted to return it due to my partner’s reaction, I’m so glad that I got a bit of inspiration from a follower – thank goodness for social media, eh?
In the end, my partner grew to like it; how could he not when I was the one rockin’ it?
If I say so myself, I think I pulled off this ‘unsexy’ corduroy dungaree dress pretty darn well…
